7 Months Have Passed. And, SURPRISE!

7 months have passed since the last time I wrote on my blog.  I encountered fall, which I have never experienced before.  I always thought that falling leaves and orange trees were just part of the movies. I was amazed with the colors I saw, oranges, yellows, purples and browns, oh my!

Then winter came... I was scared.  Freaking out. White roofs, frozen noses and snowmen in every street.  I couldn't get out of my house without gloves, 5 layers of clothes and the will power of a hungry bear. Riding a bike in -4 Celsius was my daily goal. Finally, I survived!! The first time I saw a green leave growing on those branchy trees made me feel like a survivor!

It was funny, I was ready for the spring and more than happy for the summer, but winter gave us a little surprise after my husband's birthday.  My period was MIA, I didn't want to drink and my boobs were ridiculously HUGE! So yes, we got pregnant. So now I am in Holland, getting integrated to this new culture, learning the language with a baby on board! Couldn't ask for more....

My neighborhood

After a relaxing day at home, I decided to go walking around my neighborhood.  I live in an area surrounded by nature, very cute houses and children playing.  Everyday you see fathers playing with their children, mothers taking a ride with their baby strollers and families spending time together.  This is a very family oriented country, which I am not use too see too much in my hometown.  So around my neighborhood, I found the coolest and most amazing flowers I have ever seen.  There were about 15 different species,  of different colors, shapes and sizes.

One more unique than the other.
Like this pink one on the bottom.

I also noticed that everytime a new baby arrives to a home, they put baby themed items at the entrance of the house.  I saw about 3 new homes with baby decorations.  They were all boys, so here comes more of them.. haha

Brazilian Festival in Nijmegen

Brazilian & Caribbean Festival in Nijmegen.
Hearing the beats of the drums and the samba, I felt closer to home.. It's in my blood, I couldn't resist to the mesmerizing rhythms.

Arrival to Tulip Country

We were received with banners, balloons and arms wide open.  The family of my husband made me feel like my own.  I saw his mom and gave her a huge hug, with tears in our eyes and wordless hands sings, we both knew were family already.
We ate dinner, opened more presents, and from there I knew my new life has just started.
As soon as I entered my new house, I felt like home.  I started cleaning up, taking some stuff out of the luggage and making my space a cozy one. Jetlag caught us and 12 hours of sleep renewed us.

Our Story in One Paragraph

As funny as it sounds, our story is like a fairy tail come true.  After traveling to Europe, I met him in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, where a common friend introduced us. As soon as we saw each other the chemistry was inevitable and the love bloomed without barriers. We kept our love overseas and finally on August 28, 2010 we tied the knot. After many  thoughts and chats, we decided that it was best for us to move to the Netherlands. And now,  I am making a big step to a new life, and take my American-Peruvian background to a new country, a new culture, and a new language.. Holland.
